An architect’s world is to design for the future, but what does the future hold?
In a globalising world, what ultimately remains to make architecture local?

The writer Herbert Wright takes a long perspective across time and geography to reframe the questions architecture must ask, and highlights the threats to humanity and its opportunities that architecture should identify.

Herbert Wright London-based Herbert Wright writes about architecture, urbanism and art. He graduated in Physics and Astrophysics from the University of London. He contributes to European and Pacific publications. His books include London High (2006) and Instant Cities (2008), and Be:Hive (UK Pavilion at Milan, 2015). A monograph about Mecanoo is published in 2021. He curated Lisbon’s first city-wide public architecture weekend Open House 2012, was a 2017 Graduate Thesis juror at SCI-Arc, and keynote speaker at Element Urban Talks Krakow 2018. Herbert was short-listed as head curator for Oslo Architecture Triennial 2016 and Tallinn Architecture Biennale 2021. He is currently working on a book about artificial intelligence and the city.

Ștefan Ghenciulescu is an architect, researcher, architecture critic, and curator and the editor of the Romanian architecture journal Zeppelin. In his work he focused on contemporary and modern architecture, democratic urbanism, architectural pedagogy, heritage preservation and regeneration as well as urban culture in Central and South-eastern Europe. Stefan Ghenciulescu is the author of many articles and books such as The Transparent City. About boundaries and housing in Bucharest.
